Welcome to our web pages about the treatment of Thrush using Aromatherapy. Our objective is to give you useful information about how we can successfully treat Thrush using a mixture of essential oils and creams.

Thrush is a yeast infection caused by an increase in the growth of Candida Albicans, a common fungus. The incidence of Thrush is increasing, and the most common treatment method is the use of a powerful OTC (over the counter) preparation, such as Canestan (Clotramizole). There is growing concern about the abuse of easily obtainable OTC's like Canestan - many individuals liken it to using a sledgehammer to crack a nut, and the use of alternative remedies is growing in popularity.

Aromatherapy is a natural remedy that is suitable for treating Vaginal Thrush (vulvovaginal candidiasis), but the taste of the essential oil mixture makes it unsuitable for the treatment of Oral Thrush (oropharyngeal candidiasis). You'll see results within 24 hours. The treatment cycle normally takes several weeks, and we recommend a clinic visit, and self-treatment at home using oils and creams supplied by your Aromatherapist.

WARNING: Do NOT attempt home treatment of Candida with essential oils without consulting a Clinical Aromatherapist. To successfully treat Candida with Essential Oils, you must use fresh, pure unadulterated oil from a reputable source. Essential Oils purchased from shops may not be pure, or may have been stored incorrectly and have oxidised. They will not usually have the desired effect!!

On this web site you can use the links to directly access a Case Study on the successful treatment of thrush using aromatherapy essential oils. You can also review the Clinical Evidence in favour of Aromatherapy treatment. In practice users have reported that a cure using essential oils takes slightly longer than using OTC's, but that the infection does not normally recur within a short period of time. Its effective at stopping a repeating pattern of thrush / cystitis / thrush, etc.

Clinic appointments are available Monday to Friday from 0900 to 1800 and they last about 40 minutes. If you're stuck, we can try to make a Saturday appointment for you. You can save time on your first appointment by registering as a web site user, and then completing both the Personal and Pre-Treatment questionnaires. It also helps if you can complete the Do You Have A Yeast Problem? self-survey, and bringing that with you too. In clinic we review your general medical history with you, and discuss the factors that you believe may be causing the thrush infection. We then assess and give you an initial treatment.  We give you an oil mix for vaginal use, and a cream to stop the vulval irritation and itching. We give you a back massage using an oil mixture which has anti-fungal properties. There's a link to a Patient Review of clinic treatment just above. We encourage you to continue treatment at home for a further one to two weeks, and we give you a further supply of oils and creams for home use.

We use evidence based practice, so we always follow up with you to see how the treatment has gone, whether its been successful, and how you're now feeling. Your feedback helps us to build up valuable statistics on just how effective aromatherapy treatment for thrush can be. To date we have a 92% success rate on clinic treatments!!

Clinic treatment is free of charge, but we would greatly appreciate a donation of up to £30 max to help cover our costs.
